Council meets Monday
The Venus City Council is scheduled to hold its regular meeting on Monday, May 11, at 6:30 PM at the Venus Civic Center, 210 S Walnut Street. Regular council meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month unless a holiday changes the schedule. Residents who want to stay connected to town decisions on services, planning, and day to day operations may want to attend. Citizens may sign up before the meeting with the city secretary to speak during public comment.
Runoff mail ballot deadline
Friday, May 15, is the last day Johnson County can receive applications for a ballot by mail for the May 26 primary runoff election. For neighbors who plan ahead, travel, or help relatives with voting arrangements, this is one of the most important election deadlines left this month. The county lists this as a received deadline, not a postmark deadline, so waiting until the last minute could cause problems.
School board meets
Venus ISD school board members are set to hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 18. The district says regular board meetings are held on the third Monday of each month in the VISD Board Room at 100 Student Drive. School board meetings are where many of the district's key decisions are discussed, making this an important evening for parents, staff, and residents who want to follow local education issues closely.
Last early voting day
Friday, May 22, is the final day of early voting for the May 26 primary runoff election in Johnson County. Polls remain open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the county's designated early voting sites. For Venus residents who prefer to avoid election day lines or who have a busy holiday weekend ahead, this is the last chance to vote early in person.
